Just Released! $62K Recovered from Unpaid Parking Permit Fees
The BART OIG recently completed an investigation that led to the recovery of $62,580 in unpaid parking permit fees.
In 2023, an auto-manufacturing corporation entered into a permit agreement to store vehicles in BART’s parking garages. However, a 2024 OIG investigation revealed the company used more spaces than agreed upon without notifying BART, resulting in an underpayment.
Following our findings, BART officials implemented enhanced monitoring and negotiated with the company to recover the fees and amend the agreement. This successful recovery highlights our commitment to ensuring fair use of public resources and maintaining accountability.
