Just Released! BART Responsive to Updating Procurement Manual

The BART Office of the Inspector General (OIG) has released a new investigative report addressing concerns about BART’s vendor selection process.

We found no evidence of favoritism or rule-breaking. The vendors in question were selected using the California Multiple Award Schedule (CMAS) — a valid and approved method. However, the CMAS option was not listed in BART’s procurement manual at the time, which could have caused confusion.

Thanks to swift cooperation from BART Procurement staff, the manual was updated in April 2025 to clarify that CMAS is an approved procurement method.
